    Here’s a question:

How many veterans are helped by building a War Memorial?

Big government and the police state are all well and good, usually, until their all-seeing eye falls too close to your own interests, of course. A proper response to people opposing the tyranny of the Overlords at this point might be, “Oh, you are finally noticing?” But that would require that those normally objecting to big government and the police state did not support its current incarnation, as its all-seeing gaze is serving to obtain for them a sort of pyrrhic revenge on the complacent sheep whose comfortable apathy they now occupy.

Just think a few days later the amnesty for Crimnal Illegal Aliens crowd got a permit from Obama to protest on the Mall and over 200 were arrested including 8 Democrat Congressmen…
It was a good start on getting a handle on our problems. They just didn’t arrest anywhere near enough Conrgressmen.

But I think a better focus of your question should be pointing out that building a memorial does not absolve us of our debt owed to all of the surviving vets through the VA or even whatever iteration the GI Bill is now.

Thanks for a great response, TM. You’ve said what I was trying to say: the people raving about closed war memorials don’t have the same attitude when the VA runs short of funds. Seems like some prefer symbols over substance.

A telling indicator of the direction our society is headed was the incident when Mr. Kerry was speaking, and a questioner was a little insistent. Granted, he was over the top, but he was just talking. And the famous phrase….“Don’t tase me, bro.”

What was frightening to me was the fact that no one, including Mr. Kerry, moved to stop the tasing. It was not necessary, but no one looked up, Mr. Kerry did not say a word….frightening to see.

I personally saw how GHW and “W” screwed over the VA and veterans trying to get legitimate benefits, and how Clinton and Obama tried to HELP VETERANS! In my case I would also like to thank Mark Hatfield (a real Republican) who helped in my case. While my current (Republican) Congressman is a jerk on most issues, BUT he DOES have a staff member who works very hard for Veterans.

The interesting fact is that while an underfunded VA does try to help, it is THE PENTAGON who continues to screw over vets.

ON the “other side”, folks who never left Qatar, or the states, trying to get a shrink to diagnose PTSD so they can GET THE MONEY, and DO NOT want any treatment, ARE making it harder for legitimate cases, with physical and/or “mental” problems and REAL disabilities.

Lastly, the “shut down” was mandated some time ago as far as “priorities”, BY CONGRESSIONAL REPUBLICANS! It wasn’t up to agencies any more to decide priorities. (or Obama)

With all of the extremist/TEA Party people you know and with whom you converse on topics of importance frequently, I suppose you know more of what they think and believe than somebody such as myself, who only hears of them what others want me to believe, no?

Tell me, lets presume globally that there were an odd 10,000 protesters, ( Not considering homeless people whom were not protesting)

And if gang rape has a 2/1000 chance in occuring

What are the odds of at least one event happening over the sustained period of approximately a year

I understand that according to you that there should be ideological purity, however unfortunately few things ever turn out perfect

You normally don’t need to charge people whom you can throw in jail without warrent, never mind that a common trade that police will offer after physical assult is they either

    A) Charge you and you charge them, in other words you want restitution for them breaking your arm, or alternately the police not wanting to deal with bad PR will offer not to charge if you don’t charge

The remainder of your script may be representing a neuraldegerative disorder but I will interpret this as because the parks were shut down for government shut down that the police should have cracked down earlier on OWS. Which more or less does little to answer why they should be cracked down upon

@Quipss Gresch, before you try to counter and say that rape would not happen at a tea party rally: considering the average age of the guys at a tea party, most of them probably aren’t capable of rape. Isn’t that why they carry guns with them? Nothing else works.

debt free: Well, you stepped into it there. Surveys have repeatedly shown that viewers of the Comedy Channel’s “Daily Show” and “Colbert Report” are way more informed about issues than are fox viewers. In fact, the same surveys showed that even people who never watch any news on TV, are more informed than are fox viewers. So…to answer your question, Well, yeah!

you under estimate the power of monogamy and modern medicine… tea party types get all the “whoopee” they want …

So, you admit the Tea Party men need help from a little blue pill.

The only reference to a “gang rape” at an Occupy affiliated camp, was in Scotland. No doubt, some bad elements participate, but the case in Scotland was outsiders infiltrating the camp.

Tea Party rallies last for a few hours & then everyone goes home. The Occupy protesters dig in for the long term, leaving them vulnerable to unsavory opportunists of all stripes. On the other hand, women who live with guns in their homes are much more likely to be murdered than women who do not.

The Tea Party has a strong delegation in Congress. There is no “Occupy Caucus” in Congress.

According to police, it usually works out that she is overpowered, the gun gets taken away from her, and she is either beaten with it or shot.
As to Occupy farms: It usually takes more than a week or two to raise crops, so what would have been the point? Actually, they did develop small businesses, libraries, food exchanges, and recharging areas for computers and cell phones, which were powered by solar energy to serve the people while in the camps. Was it the best way to protest? Not in my view, but at least they didn’t have tea bags stapled to their hats like circus clowns, or big fat, insecure, self-appointed wannabe thugs walking around with guns strapped to their sides.
