I’ve never seen a dentist sitting down while working on a patient before. Do they do that with children these days?
    (I can’t remember 60 years ago when I was that age. :) )

my dentist sometimes sits on a high stool when he is working on my teeth.

The dentist is modeled after Chris, and yes, she does have a stool she can sit on. Since here she’s waiting, and not getting to work, she’s sitting until Maria can be reasoned with. Did I say ‘until?’

If I may ask, what country are you from? I’m not being at all sarcastic. In the United States almost all dentistry is done with the dentist seated now, and that is the way dentists are trained in modern dental schools. Unless your dentist is really old (there are a very few left who still stand up) or you are from a country other that the US where the practice may be different, this is pretty normal.

This reminds me of my older brother who would do exactly this and the dentist would yell at him. It was quite a scene. The chaos would spill out into the waiting room with my brother yelling and the dentist yelling back.

In a lot of dental offices it’s both. They put that thing in your mouth that hisses away, sucking out the excess wet, but you can still rinse and spit.

Don’t like the drilling. But it is worrisome when the hygienist excuses herself to go “sharpen her instruments” .

something about sharp is better than dull…..

Yes, I’m from the US. Lived all my life in Indiana and Michigan. I got dentures when I was 30, and have only been back to a dentist for relines and cleaning, so I’m not familiar with modern practices. Never had kids to take to the dentist either…my 7 step kids were all older by the time I married their dad. And all that’s been nearly 40 years ago.
