My brother and I were thrown out of the house all day, and the door locked behind us from the age of two. When my brother and I were very little the townspeople would just blame us for their broken windows, and my dumb immigrant dad would pay for them and beat us later. My mother knew better, but enjoyed the drama, and hoped we would get taken away while at the same time garnering some sympathy. Plus, she liked us getting severely punished because this was the only way we would have done anything bad. My dad paid for 2 big picture windows and several smaller ones before I took to the woods all day, avoiding the neighborhood. With me in the woods and my brother sticking close to home this stopped. My brother just stayed around the house, taking mother’s wrath in beatings since she wanted us gone. When we were older and could speak more persuasively, then we could show our faces. That was a lot of $$$ in windows.

You should write a book on this. Maybe fictionalize it some or not.
