Maria is a kid who sees things her own way- and expects the world to see it her own way too! Her friend Joey is more practical. He helps keep her grounded, though that’s as easy as handling a Thanksgiving balloon in a hurricane. Sue is special and she knows it- better than anyone. She’s writing her autobiography now, but she’ll live it later. Bob takes things slower. Ms. Payne is their teacher- she enjoys her job, she truly does. She’d enjoy it even more without the students.

I dunno. I wear a beard, and Chris hasn’t asked me to shave it off.

I remember kids as liking to feel the stubble before a man would shave it off. Personally, I’ve had my beard for about 5 years longer than I’ve been married (35 years to nearly 30 years). My wife wouldn’t recognize me without it, even though it’s now so gray as to be almost unnoticeable.

The husband of one of my sisters shaved for her as an anniversary gift.

Otherwise he wouldn’t shave and look like a woolly mammoth?

I remember a long while back when I shaved off a mustache I had had for over 18 years, my daughter almost cried, and my wife got furious.

I was appearing in Amahl And The Night Visitors, in the shepherd’s chorus. A week before the production I shaved off my still dark beard, and a few of my fellow shepherds wanted to know what had possessed me. I guess I had looked more appropriately Biblical with the beard than without.

I’m a guy and I don’t like facial hair either. Mine.

Trouble is that most of our perceptions of Biblical times are either paintings from the Renaissance .. with Biblical characters in contemporary clothing .. or movies basing the character’s appearances on those paintings…

Or Biblical figures looking like 1950’s Hollywood stars. And we all know they did!
