Luann is trying to be a good friend to Tiffany. It’s nice to see, but a little unfamiliar.

Though Luann doesn’t have teaching credentials (i.e. a piece of paper), it seems the one difference between she and Principal Highchin.. Er…Hightower… is that perhaps he excelled more in academics in his position, wheras she seems to excell more in “people smarts” …. unless ….. he knew this, as well, and recognized that Tiffany could benefit more from Lu’s guidance and example (which she is displaying, even in this scene!)… he didn’t seem to be as empathetic when she came to him….

You’re an actress, Tiffany. Just play someone who cares.

I’m with Tiff on this one. And I’m not going to play the hypocrite by acting like I really care..

That is not Principal Hightower. Hightower can be seen on 10-09-02 and 10-10-02. Different person entirely."
Oh, believe me, I know that, Lev… I just like calling him that… and I wanted to fit the “chin” thing in there…

And I wasn’t even thinking about that Hightower, anyway….

I think there’s a bit more to it than Luann trying to avoid having her"Kid-Load" doubled. If Tiff could grow a “sympathy” bone it would smooth things all around.

Tie her tubes now — with that attitude, she shouldn’t be allowed to breed.

This is interesting as usual with this strip. Tiffany is showing some uncertainty and insecurity, and is being honest, with Luann of all people!! They are each other’s nemesis, but if we remember TIffany has given up on Quill back in that Summer acting camp. Her selfishness is focused on her need for affirmation and for the world to recognize how much of a star she is; when of course the joke is on her. The fact that she is revealing this vulnerability at this stage of the lives of the characters is very interesting, and maybe showing stages of maturity. Who knows? Its interesting though.

And they were friends, way back when… so it shows, too, that they can be in the same room and “breathe the same air”, as long as there’s no boy to fight over, so that eliminates a little “fuel” for their fire…they do work well together when necessary….

And, in some ways, they’re a bit more alike than they’d probably care to admit..

Sociopaths are never acknowledged unless they commit a crime. She could go into politics.

I doubt it. However, many have no time for others and just brush people off.

The Degroot kids have come a long way, maturity-wise… Whereas Tiff is stuck in neutral.
