Round one ended in a draw. I’m still holding out for Ann being Shannon’s long-lost mother. How did Ann know that Shannon was “clearly neglected?” Does the big, bad boss have a Tragic Past perchance?

No fight here but illuminating both in Eiffel’s past an maybe Shannon’s future unless this encounter makes an impression on her.

For a neglected, ill-mannered child, Shannon is amazingly perceptive!

Stand by. Ratting a saber makes noise; drawing one does not (Russian proverb, or so Tom McClancy claims).

As you likely know, they usually do.

I disagree. Ms Awful, when acting as the manager, should not criticize how a customer’s child has been raised. I’m quite sure that her supervisor would not approve of her actions today.

Ann knows nothing of the kind. What she does know is sizing up her subject’s weaknesses and going for their soft underbellies, which is why she’s so good at dominating and abusing her victims – she finds that chink in everyone’s armor and strikes home. She saw that Toni was Brad’s weak spot, and within 5 minutes had him referring to her as just a “friend”.
    .
Shannon’s a long way for being “clearly neglected” even tho her dad isn’t in her life that much. If all little kids out there who spoke their minds without a filter were “clearly neglected”, then social services would be finding foster homes for about 99% of America’s youth.
    .
And as much as it would be fun, there’s too much wrong with the timeline, as well as her personality, for Ann to ever hook up with Jonah, let alone be her mother. I think everyone can enjoy the Clash of the Titans without needing to have that extra wrinkle, don’t you?

I didn’t say I approved of it. I was just wondering what made Ann think that Shannon was “clearly neglected.”

Although, now that I think about it, Mojitobaby’s theory makes sense. It’s probably just Ann attacking Toni, hoping to find something that sticks, making Toni feel insecure and angry. Before it was Brad. Now, it looks like it’ll be Shannon.

She just learned that Shannon is Toni’s niece, and zeroed in for the kill in a way that insults Toni’s child care, and Shannon’s upbringing. Usually she’s a LOT more subtle when inserting the knife, but I’m sure she’s been stressed out, what wit not being able to fire TJ and all. Thing is, if you make a little kid cry in front of everyone, even a hellion like Shannon, you automatically lose. And I’m betting Shannon knows it – she has the same instinct for finding weaknesses as Eiffel has.

(When I hit reply, your name’s not showing up at the top of my comment; don’t know why.) You’re probably right. Still, I do enjoy getting wrapped up in crazy ideas that would never actually be written into Luann. That’s part of the fun for me.

And it has been a while since I was inspired to write a nonsensical prediction loosely based on what was actually going on in Luann, managing to pull together multiple arcs into one load of crazy.

Mainly, I miss the pump-cheese. And I hope you remember that tired old joke, or I’m gonna feel like a moron for having written that.

Yes! Some kids are manipulative little pukes- whether it’s because they had parents like Jonah Daytona, who constantly tried to pawn them off on others and probably can’t be bothered to pay much attention to the kid when they’re together or just spoiled rotton by parents who never want to deal with telling their kids “No.”
