Nice turn on the usual phrase.
But yeah, they’ve played with it for 60 years, time to give it back?

I grew up thinking the term “Indian giver” referred to the US government’s habit of reneging on their agreements with the Native Americans.

Indeed! Hence you see the difference between a statesman like Reagan and a community organizer like Obama…

The rhetoric coming out of Washington on this seems to be ill considered.

It must annoy the artist – as it does me – to see a clever cartoon diverted for personal peeves.
    Indians? Obama? German White people?
Come on. It is a witty cartoon; the Russian bear taking Crimea from the Ukraine.
    Well done, Lisa.

If you understood Michaelwme’s post, you’d see the clever risposte – and criticism – to her ‘clever’ cartoon.
By deliberately confusing the term ‘Indian giver’ with another – correctly termed – nation, he not only turns tables on the perjorative term (which Clark Kent appears to have missed) but actually manages to use it still in order to high-light the fact Crimea was Russian until 1954; Russia [Khrushchev] gave it to Ukraine for purely business/economic reasons.
It now wants its former terroritory back.

The Native American’s are better off now than before? Have you read anything lately about their conditions? We’re still screwing them.

In another toon, and reports, Putin is criticized as hypocritical for calling up OUR desire to inter even in Syria, while he seeks to (rightly or wrongly) “protect” Russian interests, like a key naval base, in Crimea. How many “ethnic Americans”, live in Syria? Then there’s our little “disturbance” that occurred from 1861-1865.

Eugene57: the U.S. Has bases in countries all over the world. Does that give us the right to snatch parts of those countries from the countries?

“aah is that not cute. Liberals justifying what Obama failed out. I wonder where he is going next? Obama Kerry and even Hillary do not have a clue yet again.”

So why don’t you tell us what actions you think they should take to deal with the crisis?

“Still crying over Native Americans? They have it better now then before.”

And just Where have you been lately? Obviously, you’ve not been in or near a “Reservation”…not all Native Americans have money…sure, the ones who can run casinos probably do, but most Native Americans are poor and disenfranchised… ;)

Blah. If Texas decided to align its interests with Mexico, the feds would have our army in there so fast, it would make their “don’t tread on me” snake spin.
