He can’t even get Iran to accept a gold-plated deal that would’ve only asked them to slow down their production of nukes.
Just another failure in the administration.

Can’t even accept a deal that would allow Iran to keep working on building a nuke while we lift sanctions. You have to wonder when he gave up his liberal ideals.

Iran has seen how the US treats companies it puts in the Axis of Evil who do or do not have nukes. Naturally, it wants one, and has been trying hard since ‘79 to make one. With absolutely no success. So apply Bayes’ Law.

The US had tonnes of uranium metal, or at least uranium oxide. Mixed with graphite, it started producing enough fissile material for bombs in about 3 years. And lots more after that. And, once they’d figured that out, the USSR, France, the UK, then China got a few tonnes of uranium and, three years later, had some bombs. Then India made a few, and Pakistan got some from somewhere, and now North Korea says it has some (the proof is less than irrefutable, but the US is taking no chances).

Iran has tonnes of ore, but the ore is of such low quality, one tonne can only produce 1 lb of uranium. Iran has a total of about 300 lbs of uranium, which is on the ragged edge (since details are classified) of what MIGHT be enough to make one bomb. The 300 lbs are mostly from what the Shah bought before ‘79. Iran hasn’t been able to get any more uranium. And they haven’t been able to convert the cores the Shah bought into bombs.

The sanctions are killing Irani children, but they’re not hurting the Ayatollahs at all.

Oh, if only Condoleezza Rice was still brokering the process in the Middle East. She was SO CLOSE to achieving lasting peace and harmony…..

“Slams about Bush and Condi are meant to distract from the miserable failure of the current administration’s foreign policy, or more accurately lack thereof.”

Sometimes that’s true. In this instance, I am attempting to show that the powderkeg in the Middle East has existed for millennia, and it is foolish to make it appear as though, if only Mr. Obama and Mr. Kerry were more capable, this problem would be easily solved. That is how I interpreted the cartoon, rightly or wrongly.

But as long as you bring that up… least Mr. Kerry pretends to try. Ms. Rice’s “attempts” reminded me of OJ Simpson’s attempts to look for the “real killers”. Lip service; no expectations.
