Yes, that’s absolutely right! Any law reducing the amount of firepower available to a mass shooter means that Obama is coming to take YOUR guns!

Sorry Harley, but I see absolutely no laws that stop you or anybody else from buying legal guns (hand guns, rifles, or shot guns, even so called semi automatic assault guns), here in California, or anywhere else in the USA. And, as there are some 200 million such guns in the USA, then according to your statement, there should be some 200 million criminals to match!!

You really should learn to read so you know what the bill actually says instead of what it’s lying shills say it does.

Good Grief Harley, if you get the real junk advertizing mail, you can find where “Big 5” sporting goods stores legally sell all kinds of rifles and shot guns, right here in California, to just about anybody. And, if you live in such rural conservative areas as the Central Valley, you can hardly even know anybody that does not have multiples of such weaponry. Just where in California have you been all of these years???

    No militia?

We are talking muskets, which you can still get through the mail in most states.

If you’re going to defend the second amendment, defend it as a whole, not just the second half of it:

“A WELL REGULATED MILITIA, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

The second amendment’s right to bear arms is DEPENDENT ON “a well regulated militia”. It is NOT a carte blanche right!

A couple of hundred years of Supreme Court Decisions contradict your assertion. As do the writings in the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers.

uh … you have that backwards. The statement says that since a militia (well regulated or not) is necessary for security then you need to let people own firearms. WHY? Well, at the time (and today as well) a militia is the set of able citizens available for military service. NOT IN the military, but fit and able to serve. So…all of us.

So SECURITY then is what is dependent on the militia. The militia then is dependent on the citizens “right to bear arms”

The citizens right to bear arms is the factor that makes the militia a feasible concept not the other way around.

So then, do you get it?

And, to add to this discussion, the crime rate over the last 10 years or so has been going down, while gun ownership has been going up. Check FBI stats.

Our nation will remain in the 1600s as long as poli-tooners and their reponders refuse to be honest and tell the whole truth.
    I do exaggerate , using the term “1600s” ..
I could use “dark ages” instead.
