The future generations will probably emigrate when they see the size of their debts. Where’s the incentive for them to stay and prop up the previous generation?
When they haven’t and never will receive the benefits of those same baby boomers.

Exactly. Soon there will be one global corporation that owns the planet and everybody on it. All governments will be divisions of the corporation. It will hold all patents, all copyrights, make all laws, elect or assign all public officials including president, senators, representatives, governors, mayors, judges, prosecutors, etc. It will be the force behind all religions and assign all clergy, imams, rabbis, etc. People will be assigned to be couples and have children.
I’m glad I’m old and wont live to see that day. I’m glad I never had children and therefore grandchildren and great grandchildren to feed into this bleak ruthless monster.

The Obama administration and the D’s in congress have never gotten a budget right. Does this surprise anyone. But but I thought taxing those evil rich was going to solve this.. That is what Obama promised. We did not need a comprehensive plan such as Ryan’s plan. We needed the class warfare of Obama who does not know how to do budgets and turn them in on time. Only 3 more years..only 3 more years…..

Get off it. We’ve seen what happens when the Republicans control both houses of Congress and the White House. The budget deficit and national debt went up, the unemployment rate doubled, the government grew even larger, and the NSA was given the powers the current administration is being criticized for using.

Really? When was that? This mess started when D controlled both House and Senate. Then Obama had the White house. Then by the will of the people the R got the house. And surprise budgets started getting passed again. Budgets that had a chance to help our country. Did that happen when the D had control?
Oh and I give Clinton some credit, He and Newt did put something up that worked. Sorry the surplus was a myth but at least they worked out a workable plan.

My God! Is Lisa suggesting we go back to paying pre-Bush tax rates to — you know — cover our BOOKED expenditures? Naw. I thought not. That would be so — ahhh — Un-conservative.

For what it’s worth, Lisa is talking about California and their new found revenue and temporarily balanced budget. I suppose it could apply on any level of government, but Californian’s, knowing they were facing a tax hike in 2013, heavily sold investments that would be subject to gain at the end of 2012. As such they had a surplus of revenues over what was expected. In spite of the fact that it is pretty much assured to be a one time event, our legislators are practically killing each other over ways to spend it, ignoring the unfunded healthcare, pension debt, bankrupt cities and other long term liabilities. Trying to control spending for the Sacramento “super majority” has been almost like an addict struggling with addiction, they just gotta have it…

California raised taxes, and their government is healthier than it would have been if they didn’t. None of Lisa’s spin changes that basic fact.

You don’t get it. The period of time between 1-20-2001 and 1-20-2009 history had stopped. On 1-21-2009 Barack Obama, restarted history and the economy crashed and the national debt exploded. You gotta understand the internal logic of the comments made by the reactionaries on this site.

Yeah, but they tried really, really hard to save money by de facto repeal of the FOIA, thereby saving the state the staggering cost of copying documents or transmitting them by email.

    Exactly right!
Nothing Bush did has any negative consequences today. Nothing.
    -
Well, maybe when Bush reduced the membership of the NRA by one, but other than that, nothing.

How do you tax someone to bring about prosperity to someone else? Are you that hung up on envy that you can not see your own hate? Funny thing is I agree with we need a new tax system
