A Democrat dreamland of high taxes on the few that work and then just millions of freeloaders.

Tell me when income tax hits 80% upper bracket, i.e level in 70’s

Tell me why on earth anyone would want higher unemployment. The closest you come is the tradeoff where things like a higher minimum wage is implemented which may drive up unemployment, but that is a tradeoff for allowing greater benefits from the job

In the present there are a lot of welfare bums, mostly those who believe that either

    R) entire deficit can be blamed on welfare for those who arn’t working ( takes up 12% budget, deficit is 20% )
    D) Can be laid purely on the back of the top 1%, taxes on middle class are evil

The reality is that for a society to be functional you do require some form of broad base taxation. The concept behind social democracy is to work as a community.

True, however the US isn’t a social democracy.
It is a representative republic. At least it used to be.
    Social democracies always, ultimately fail.

It must be killing you that California’s Democratic government is bringing the state back from your conservative desert of decline.

China is not Socialist, it is capitalist with a one party fascist government of by and for the handful of megarich oligarchs. It chooses to call itself communist (totally different than Socialist) for political reasons known only to the fascists at the top.

A rather ignorant comment if ever I heard one , Conserve…. California is at least trying.
A mans calling can be determined at age one day , in some cases. From that point (day one) the skills must be honed..Knowledge of the man is necessary….today, very few possess this knowledge.
At age 20, its too late, and he will have to muddle thru life – as I did…

How is this different from me, graduating with an engineering degree during the Bush years and having to lay carpet for two years while job hunting?

If I were a "nice man ", Conserve, I’d just say that your comments and those of other conservatives are just negative and hateful…which implies “useless”..
    I am not..
    Angry -yes !
But, I try to be honest and frank.
As to China, what are they ?
I’d have to go there to find out.. for myself…
Hell, I am NOT even sure what “capitalist” is !

Its close, but not that simple, that we are a representative democracy, .
    Only 40% vote.
Maybe just 4% participate…so I do not know what we are…

But man is naturally social, and I mean man, not lower order animals (reptiles for one).

So we are socialist , among other things, – like it or not !
Our nation is successful as things were in balance – more or less..
Right now, things are out of balance….obviously…

    True, but
I feel that neither capitalism nor communism are evil…or even “bad”.
I do not accept the old definitions of words – anyway.
    Communism and socialism are close…
What is “bad” for the people is repression – and I think that this , for the greater good, may be necessary….short term..

I play Lotto over here in Germany. Yes, the chances are astronomically low, but if you DON’T play the chance is zero, which is worse. I only spend about $20 for 8 weeks and always play the same numbers. I’m not excited about it, I see it more like a venture capital investment :-)

Hey look it is Obama’s magic green jobs, except we the taxpayer have to pay a few million for each job created.

Speaking specifically of China, their economy was a failure until they decided to go free enterprise (gasp….capitalistic). Of course, if the abuses of capitalism aren’t showing up yet, they should be soon.

    @MortyForTyrant

I to spend about 3$-5$ a week on the stupid tax. But hey can not win if you do not play.
Here is one of the problems with the lotto here. It got passed by stating “it is for the kids” right. Yes the money is to go to the schools, but the money it raises at a local level might run a school system for a day. So you have idiots spending 20 -50 a week easy on lotto tickets and yet will not let a school levy pass in their city. talk about duuuh.
