Sadly they are mostly serving politicians and Plutocrats for their purposes, not for protection of us. So many such forays into undeclared war has brought down more danger to us via retaliation.

Thanks for telling it the way we in the targeted part of the world see it, Night-Gaunt.

All this mawkish sentimentality over our soldiers. The only real way to show them respect and gratitude is to insure that they never get put in harm’s way to satisfy a whim, or to put money into already fat pockets.
As this latest war was being contemplated, Congress was busy asking entertainers about steroids.
We older citizens—the “hell no, we won’t go” generation—signed off on the war ’cause there was no draft, and everyone knows that REAL Americans go to college—not to the armed services.

Also in protecting them when they come home. So many find their houses taken from them by banks. It is a scandal and a crime not being addressed by our politicians. That needs to end. Even people who are not in arrears get to have their houses, fully paid, repossessed. Such a thing was not allowed to happen in the 1930’s but is rampant today. It is a sign of just how far the Plutocrats continue to call the shots.

No, David, we didn’t. Many of us in the “hell no” generation did NOT sign off on these wars. Many pastors of my generation preached against it. Many people have participated in demonstrations. The problem is, without a draft, it is all too easy to ignore, which the politicians realize. Those of us who live in areas where many of the young people live below or close to the poverty level grieve that they see military service as the only way up in life.

What this strip brings to mind is that Latinos have served for generations, and their contributions have been minimized.

How, exactly, do you imagine that a bank can “repossess” a home with a “fully paid” mortgage? Oh, granted, a home can be seized for non-payment of taxes, but the bank is not involved in that. We all are afflicted with taxes so that the parasites can be supported (and faithfully vote for democrats) even military members.
