I can’t draw, but the caption will be, ‘Football? You’re crazy. The football season doesn’t start until August.’

As Friedman wrote in Sunday’s New York Times, both Bushes, Clinton, and Obama have done everything perfectly in Iraq (for one thing, they all followed Friedman’s advice). But it’s STILL a mess. The mission WAS accomplished, it just didn’t STAY accomplished, but you can’t blame anyone in the US government for that: It’s ALL the Iraqis’ fault.

So the situation is hopeless, and the only rational thing the US can do to help is nothing at all.

NB: I don’t take credit for ANY of the sentiments summarised here. I’m not that smart. I got all this just from reading the New York Times.

Reading the Daily Kos is like reading the KCNA.

Here’s the thing that never ceases to amaze me:

When Saddam’s statue came down, the rightie Repubs on this board were more than happy to call the invasion of Iraq "BUSH’S’ war.
But then as soon as things started to go south in the sandbox, ( mass looting, no WMDs, insurgencies, etc. ) these same Bush worshipers started posting a list of quotes from Bill Clinton et al. that seemed to show the Dems had been all for the war…and no matter how may times those quotes were debunked as being out of context, ( a quick look at Snopes.com was all it took. ) the righties KEPT on posting them.
Sorry tea-cons, us libs have never given Obama a pass on everything…He has never been our ‘dear leader’ or ,‘the one’
no,no…that was how YOU treated Bush….and your non-stop trying to pass the buck on the Iraq war proves it.

This. The banner belonged to the returning naval forces and spoke to the end of their specific mission. It was the media and the democrats who chose to make that about Bush.

Bush never declared “mission accomplished” with respect to Iraq. In contrast to President Obama and,as you rightly note, Joe Biden.

Remember when the Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines said “we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas”, and the band was immediately attacked by right-wing press of all stripes for “disrespecting the office of the President”?
    .
Now we’ve got people outright declaring that the President is a Manchurian candidate out to destroy this country and extend an Islamic caliphate around the world. I guess the office of the President only deserves respect when a Republican is in it.

“You have to give respect WERE respect is DO in order to earn respect.”

    The stupidity!!! It burns!!!

“If I remember correctly, and I do, the criticism of the Dixie Chicks was that they said it on foreign soil.” By a few, maybe, but mostly because they said it.

I own exactly ONE “country” album, a Dixie Chicks CD I bought specifically to support them when the were being brutally attacked for voicing their First Amendment rights, and recognizing “W” was Texas’ biggest failure, ever.

BTW: the character in the ’toon is a combo of Cheney/Rumsfeld.

The problem started with free will…

well it ends when the Jews and Arabs recognize the same Messiah as the Christians… but that only my point of view… after all it is free will to choose to want to destroy your own genetic “cousins”
