Actually, I have been VERY lucky! I don’t have television where I live, and I ONLY listen to satellite radio, so NO campaign ads! Ahhh…Blessed silence…
Imagine them running towards their heaps and then blowing them apart (literally), mixing everything up, just to get that one vote. In plain English: don’t pander, you might alienate your base!
Election time always reminds me of the episode of Designing Women where Julia runs for local office. My favorite quote is of of Julia telling off her opponent:
“One of the things that I pray for, Mr Briquet, is that people with power will get good sense and people with good sense get power, and that the rest of us will be blessed with the patience and the strength to survive the people like you in the mean time!”
I apply that to both parties, if perhaps one more so than the other.
