I actually live in America so I have no idea what you two ^^ are talking about.

Ok I do, but I won’t be celebrating some obscure battlefield victory the Mexicans had over 150 years ago.
Btw…I do like those Doritos Locos Tacos at Taco Bell.

So you actually live in “America” …. North “America”? …. South “America”? … or maybe Central “America”?

Well, you live somewhere in the Western Hemisphere, good for you.

I actually live in Europe and am African in origin and I’m puzzled by your lack of interest in the significance of this American battle.
Obscure? Really? I read up on the battle and it would appear it had favourable direct & indirect consequences to the USA of the time (unless you were for a Confederate victory, in which case, yeah, I can see why you’d wish to diminish it).

Dude, read up on your regional history.

this comic is just comparing the extreme wealth of the top 1% and .01% compared wiih other places in the world.
The point would be better if it compared the top few with the most of the rest of us whose real income has not increased since Reagan was in the white house.

Only a Republican Nazi could use the phrase “liberal marxist”.

I would buy all American IF our government would stop taxing everyone so that products could be made here. Union expect more money- it’s cheaper to have others create goods.
    Not my fault!

We started calling ourselves American when most of them called themselves Spanish, or Dakota, or …
    We got dibs.

Retiring after 35 years of federal service, both foreign and domestic, I have no hatred of the United States. However, I don’t think belittling other countries or cultures makes us stand any taller in the world. There is a certain jingoism growing here that I do find repulsive.

“Somehow the USA is responsible for working conditions in foreign lands, even though the liberal marxists don’t want us meddling in other countries.”

"They’re called Free Trade Agreements. You basically lobby Congress to pass laws that allow you to send your business overseas, exploit the people in some third world mud hole, and bring back the goods and sell them as if they were made here. That’s how you make tons of money while not worrying about safe working conditions, clean water, working restrooms, etc.

“Okay time for a language lesson. America has become a short hand way of saying United States of America. Not just in the US, but in most other countries. Only with the rise of PCism have people complained about the usage.
It also did not arise out of consideration for people of other countries, but rather hate towards America. All you have to do is look and listen to how they react and talk. Feversjr comment provides an excellent example.
I believe this usage arose because the US was the first country in the Americans to declare and achieve independence from the European Colonial Powers.”
anything you find suspect is “PC”?

I suspect you don’t travel much.

my ‘conservative’ friends love to tell me about how things work or don’t work in Europe and asia and other continents. Some even have passports.

none have ever traveled to those place, but in fairness, they do have relatives that emigrated from there a generation or two ago, or know people who have traveled there (like me).
