    It seems to me that the US would do much better to simply stay out of these things. When we open our mouths we do not help those who seek a different path. And quite often, we overthrow one despot only to establish a new one.

    Neither country sees anything wrong with a government policy of killing their own citizens. And we want to remember a recent instance of that in the US.

    Assad IS scum, so was Saddam, and Pinochet , Mubarak, and lots of others, however, isn’t the armed overthrow of governments also identified in our Constitution as “treason”??? There may indeed be some question about inserting foreign intervention into “rebellions”. Funny how many we’ve supported, until, well, we didn’t, like Fidel Castro.
