As 2014 gets closer, we’ll hear more about how each party is all about job creation. A recent story showed both parties are having trouble recruiting GOOD people to run for Congress because the most qualified don’t believe that DC is able to work as a body anymore. Those approached say they are more likely to seek state office where they feel they might be able to actually get something done.
But that just makes the pool in DC that much more stagnant.
    Respectfully,
    C.

    I guess it’s also Bush’s fault that you can’t remember recent history…

A Congressman also needs to be competent in the implementation of good ideas, i.e. health care reform. Health care reform is something that has needed to be done for many years. Congress should have researched the world’s most successful and economically viable health care systems that have had years of tweaking and improvements. They should then have cooperated in synthesizing the best of all of those systems. Instead we got a mess. it’s a barrel of miscellaneous ideas tied together by legalese that will never work well without considerable modification. Throw in sequester and any other examples you would like demonstrating the incompetence of Congress. GOOD people would work at putting together good, solid legislation to the benefit of the people and labor to stay within the confines of the Constitution. It could be done if Congress were made of good people willing to work at legislating instead of politicking.

All of you (both sides) need to remove the Bushes from your vocabulary, and concentrate on finding candidates for 2014, that have common sense, and aren’t completely owned by some segment of the economy, or some foreign power..

When was the last GOP jobs bill? That’s right, they don’t have one. Only proposing pollution and give-aways to the rich, which do not create jobs, while blocking the type of stimulus that has a track record of working under both parties. “Maybe if we punish America enough, they’ll blame Obama and give us power back.”

Tea Party antics are destroying a ravaged Republican party. It is like watching a time-lapse movie clip of maggots feeding on an animal’s corpse. Why do the Republican moderates tolerate the Tea Party take over, and just sit and watch the last bit of their party immolate?

Great idea, but doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

Looks like again we will be presented with party nominees, bought and paid for with corporate money and no hope of real representation.

Time to prise the nominations away from the parties; as long as we elect their nominees, we’re dead in the water.

    -
I agree with you, and so do most people (I think).
    -
Unfortunately, Mitch McConnell strenuously disagrees. During the health care debate, he stated in an interview on Fox “news” that the American health care system is the greatest in the world and needs NO improvements.
    -
His stated priority: “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”
    -
And, it wasn’t as if the Republicans weren’t in lock step. They filibustered one of their own proposals after Obama supported it.
    -
They have NO interest in improving health care for lower income people.
