Where I am, most restaurants post prices, but I was walking with a friend past a restaurant that had a grilled fish displayed under glass with no price. ‘How much,’ I asked. ‘Zis feesh only $27.’

My friend said, ‘I know where we can get a big plate of fish, more than this, for $2.99.’

‘But zis is ze fresh sea bass. It is not ze cheep feesh.’

My friend answered, ‘Fish is fish.’

All over the world, fish is mislabelled, since most people pay for the name. When it’s time for eating, ‘fish is fish’.

And now, starting with Europe, ‘quadruped meat is quadruped meat’.

I’m sure you’ve heard that croc tastes like chicken, x tastes like chicken, etc. Well, tilapia tastes like everything. :-|

I sometimes pick up frozen fish with the ambiguous " fish from …" instead of its bloody name. Never mind mislabelling, here they sometimes don’t bother with a label at all.

Become a Vegetarian or even a Vegan. Why should we murder cattle, hogs, chickens, fish, etc to cook and eat them?

The fine retailers of fish in Boston decided the name ‘whatever’ was not descriptive of the catch, so they call it ‘scrod’.

Passive subjunctive of “screw”. Visitor to Boston asks the taxi driver, “Do you know where I can get scrod?” Taxi driver says, “You rarely hear the passive subjunctive…”

A couple of years ago, a woman went to aan expensive local restaurant and ordered grouper.
When the meal arrived, she said it didn’t taste like grouper.
The waiter assured her “It is definitely grouper, it says so on the box.”
She said “Box? My fish shouldn’t come from a box.”
I think it came from Thailand.
This launched DNA fish testing all around here.
Most often mislabeled are snapper and grouper.
    Most correctly labeled is salmon.
