Now THAT IS “nature’s law”!! And the devil invented coupons to bring the fastest line to a dead halt!

At Costco I told them they should have an express line for ten thousand items or less.

I pick the line with the most men. They are more likely to pay cash and less likely to write checks for $4.

I’m a master at putting stuff on the belt FAST and SPACE EFFICIENT. I also maneuver my cart in a way that allows the next customer to do the same as soon as possible. The cashiers are fast with the scanner, I’m fast with packing my stuff back in the card, then pay cash and leave. If everybody would do so lines would cease to exist.

If you’re the person who’s using coupons, then they’re worth it. My family and I routinely use coupons, and most folks are surprised at just how much we save on things.

I actually once hit the holy grail and got something for free.

It’s slower when you get behind the person who argues that the item that rang up 99 cents was supposed to be 97 cents. I’m always tempted to say, Look, here’s a nickel, can we just move it along now?

Once picked the shortest line. They guy in front of me had 1 item. He then checked his one item and then asked for a rain check so he could save 2 cents on a pound of bananas. Took him a good 5 minutes to fill out the right form.

most retail stores time the cashier per transaction. the slowest ones are moved or replaced. They are just as bothered by time delayers as the rest of us in line. I dont see why sthaler blames it all on the girl in the toon.

Standing in line behind one person who was talking on her cell phone and ignoring the cashier who was trying to get her to pay for her purchases. Five minutes passes, she hangs up and pays. I step forward and the CASHIER’S cell phone rings. She answers it and ignores me.

    I take my business elsewhere.

My pet peeve is the people who use the express lane with far more than the posted number of items. I’m not referring to people that are only a couple of items over. Unfortunately there are a number of people out there that seem to think that 20+ items are the same as 10. I’ve also never come across a store manager that would actually enforce the posted limits.

Morty: I do the same when I absolutely HAVE to make the run to the market. It does help.

Darren, I’m reminded of the gal who did the same, after holding the line up for almost 20 minutes (only one cashier), then went outside to her car, which she’d left idling for the whole time, and probably burned twice as much money for gas as what she saved with coupons. But that brings up another issue of “American waste not, want not.”

This works….. When lines are full and there are closed check outs…..Ask loudly, if there is a manager in the store?…..The answer will be yes………..Ask where he is and if he can run a register……. Amazing, how quick a new line will open up.

Cell phones are a pest and the undoing of our civilization! How often do you see mothers in the street, happily talking on their cells while the kids tug and shout for attention? What kind of monsters are we creating with this behavior? I wouldn’t be the least surprised if acts like in Colorado would become a weekly or even daily occurrence with these cell-neglected children!
