Just add it as a new sport and watch the ratings go through the roof!

Not quite sure what the Prime Minister of Ukraine and riots has to do with the Prime Minister of Russia and the Olympics.

mikefive: Keep up with the news. Both sides agree that the issue is whether the Ukraine will go back into the Russian satellite category or become a part of Europe.

And this has what to do with the Olympics in Russia and the riots in Kiev as depicted in the cartoon. My comment is specific to the cartoon and not the broader political situation. I’m fully aware that the Russians can tighten the screws on Ukraine and how they can do it. Your admonition that I don’t keep up with the news is in error.

I think the gist is Putin’s ruthlessness with regard to the Olympics as they reflect his wonderfulness as a…whatever kind of “leader” he is; and that ANYTHING that detracts or reflects badly — dogs, weather, the laws of physics or disloyal good-for-nothing hockey teams — had better look out.

That’s Putin in his afterlife if Christianity turns out to be the correct religion.

Another country we have no business dictating about, it’s the divide between the EU and Moscow.

Putin is a bit creepy, and former KGB, obviously those former spooks can’t be trusted. Hmmmm GHW ran the CIA for a while. Maybe some rubbed off on his kid when it came to making up “intelligence”?

Kiev’s riots are competing with keeping Sochi’s Olympics off the news, thus affecting Putin’s vanity, or so alleges Danziger.

I’ve been busy this week at work (for the Marines) and haven’t had much time to peruse (let alone comment) on these posts. However, I heartily applaud the previous days’ personal disclosures and dialogue (especially by Joad and Reasons).
One can be smart, but there are different spheres of intelligence. Sometimes it comes to more than “smart” to not isolate oneself from alternative viewpoints – and recognize when people scream for reasons that are not germane to what’s really going on.
