    Canter personally profited from the first time the US credit rating was lowered. There’s no reason to believe he wouldn’t want to make it happen a 2nd time.

    How did he profit from it?

    Is Jeff hinting that Cantor stabbed Boehner in the back?

    Cantor wasn’t interested in any compromise., just vacation.http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/12/why-eric-cantors-abscence-is-reason-for-hope-for-thefiscal-cliff-talks-1266500/

    As with all things Republican, this will also fail. Altho Cantor may get the Speakers job, it won’t matter – his party is being consumed from within. Enjoy your cold tea, GOP.

    You have piqued my curiousity, how did Cantor personally profit the first time?

    Cantor is just Boehner with the rest of the ethical restraints, removed.

    I am constantly amazed that there is anyone that has not recognized the fact that there is a complete lack of any plan at all from the republicans. They filibuster their own bills, or CAN’T EVEN BRING THEM TO THE FLOOR. And yet the Fox ‘news’ crowd still follows along behind singing praises. It is an embarrassment. How do they look themselves in the mirror?

    @mickey1339

    @Stipple

    This was reported a while back. Cantor owned shares in the ProShares Trust Ultrashort 20+ Year Treasury ETF hedge fund, which shorts treasury bonds. The fund, and therefore Cantor, made a profit when the treasury bond credit rating dropped. Cantor had a hand in the events that caused the lowered credit rating.

    Why should republicans be given equal time on the news if they just say nonsense?

    Even by the low, low, standards of todays GOP Cantor is a slimeball. But he does not want to be speaker. He wants Boner to have that job and take all the grief that goes with it while he (Cantor) pulls all the strings in the background.
