The thing that bothers me about “birthers” is that not one ever asked about Bush’s or Cheney’s “proof” of birth in the U.S.
Shoot, nobody even questioned John Kerry, despite that his name sounds… a little… you know… Irish.
Nobody even questioned John McCain’s loyalties, despite spending years in Hanoi during the peak of the Vietnam War.
And as for Sarah Palin… well, doncha know, she does seem to know an awful lot about old Mother Russia, doesn’t she? Enough of an authority on it to presume to know “how to deal” with them as President. So… why hasn’t anyone made her “prove” that she wasn’t born “Sarah Karlovna Petrov” of Leningrad? Perhaps she’s the *Ukrainian Candidate.”
See? The whole thing is positively absurd, based in innuendo and half-truths, and unfortunately, the “Tea Party” will never be a credible political force if it continues to harbor these ridiculous conspiracy theoristsm which is unfortunate since it does otherwise voice some legitimate concerns.
