My sister worked up north building the Alaska oil pipeline. The work camps were men, more so than the Army.
Some circumstances that just does not matter. Do children care? Only if they are taught to care.

Sounds like this is just being rammed in for political reasons by the o administration despite objections from most of our troops.

You mean just like the integration of the Armed Forces under Truman?

Is that a legitimate analogy? Think about it a little.

If the troops are for it AND women will be subject to any future draft, I’m actually fine with it. Also I don’t want any special(lower) standards for women (physical or others) that would put our troops in danger.

Hey, if there are women that really want to fight on the front lines, God bless them.

    Funny you should say that…
Catholic hospital argues against a wrongful death lawsuit where a woman pregnant with twins died. Husband tried to sue. Hospital says fetuses aren’t legal humans.
They say fetuses deserve rights greater than mother until something like this happens…

    That is a great story.
I think that anti-abortionists want absolute power to push their religion on everyone else.
We also need a constant supply of youths for pedophile priests and football coaches to molest.

ONe of my best friends, female, was killed in a “IED resistant” armored vehicle on her second Iraq deployment as a medic, all the others in the rig were infantry. Anyone who thinks our women haven’t been in combat units is an idiot. (They just haven’t been getting credit for it with regard to promotion ladders.)

Tank crews and submarine crews should be all male or all female. Opportunity for all!

    @Allen Willey

Explain why. On the surface, that seems more than ridiculous considering men and women serve side by side on American Navy Ships already.

Even those of us that reasonably oppose the direct introduction of women into combat fully realize that women in even non combat roles sometime get into actual combat, whether they like it or not. This has been the case in every war the US had ever been involved in.

To me at leas,t the only saving grace of this policy is that it is supposedly voluntary in that a woman has to state categorically that this is what she wants to do.

But, is it not already bad enough that even men have to engage in active combat roles. Do we really want (even voluntarily) potential and actual wives and even mothers to engage in this miserable, terrible, and even down right horrifying activity?

There was a scene in the movie “How The West was Won!” where a young Confederate soldier tells a young Yankee soldier. “Thar ain’t much glory in looking at a man with his guts handing out!” that has always somewhat stuck with me as a reasonable description of active combat!

And where does this kind of thing lead? Like the anti gun law types always stating that even reasonable gun laws eventually will lead to all guns being confiscated from honest American citizens. Who would be next, our children???

My daughter is a Major. She pees while wearing her poncho.
The cartoon is silly and sexist.
