My sentiments exactly. They (both parties) tried to put a band aid on a wound that required major surgery. Once more:
    *
Leadership fails on all three levels of government. Politics triumphs over the needs of the people.
    *
The proverbial can is once more kicked down the road.
    *
The world laughs at us or shakes their heads in disgust, take your pick. America’s credibility as a financial superpower diminishes further. The world loses confidence in America as a stable place to invest (buy our Treasuries) and looks further at Asia as a place to invest and start business.
    *
Obama says he isn’t going to negotiate on the upcoming “debt ceiling.” Since credit ratings for American debt is heavily affected, that can only come back to kick us in the butt.
    *
Add to that the arrogant a-holes gave themselves a raise.

Rank-and-file members of Congress would all see a $900 bump next year — up from $174,000. Congressional leaders will receive a slightly higher raise, with the House speaker receiving a $1,100 salary increase to $224,600. The top two Senate leaders will see pay rise $1,000, to $194,400.

I’m taking bets here that once the economy is on a more solid footing, Obama will then start addressing the deficit and will start cutting government spending. And every step of the way, the Republicans will scream bloody murder and try to stop him.

    And takers?

Unlikely that any of us will live long enough to see the result you predict.

I’ll take ten bucks worth of “the only real spending cuts (less next year than this year) the president will go for is in defense.” Everything else will be more next year than this year.

You’re on. Any meaningful cuts and you have to donate $10 to the Democrat Party.

Obama lead? Really? and what evidence do you have he has done any leading the last 4 years. He had only his party to deal with the 1st two and the only thing he did was pass the tax that is not a penalty tax, we have to read it to find out what is in it, in the dead of the night, Obamacare. The next 4 years he has been dealing with this “super minority” that the R’s have managed. The clff deal he had to use Biden to do anything and used one of those smart pens to sign it. Shoot The speaker of the house has vowed not to spend anymore one on one time with him.
Lead? I will take you up on that.

Captained by “w”, piloted through a narrow channel by Cheney, and a crew of Republicans kept stoking the boilers, for decades. At least even Reagan and even GHW knew enough to patch the tax leak, temporarily, and contain spending, even with their “mini-wars” in Grenada and Panama, but “Desert Storm” only started the destruction for real, it took “Jr”, to turn it into a mega-storm bigger and more costly than even Katrina.

Don’t put words in my mouth; I said nothing of “leading.” I said he would attempt to address the deficit. I never even said he would succeed, because OF COURSE he will run up against the “super minority” and the recalcitrance of Boehner. That was my POINT.
