This is a perfect cartoon for all the Willard supporters to comment on his best qualities and qualifications to be president.
Extra credit for being able to state one of his policies.

This is utter nonsense. Accuse Obama of not getting everything possible done in three years, well, that’s a fair opinion.

But Mitt having a resume that makes him better? On what planet? Besides, he’s already made it clear that he is reversing all his previous policies if he gets elected, so what good is his resume?

Stupid argument. What resume did Obama have in ’08?
Romney was the Governor of Mass. and a very successful business man.

However, Romney doesn’t want to run on what he did as governor, nor does he want to run on his business record.

Is it me, or does Payne make Romney look more like Obama than Romney?

Well, so far nothing, no policies, no good qualities and no qualifications.

Boy I tell ya…. you guys take exception to his success but here you go. How about as a businessman? He spent a year getting investors to back his company and started with 37 Million. Did ti fail? What is the investment firm worth today? How many pension funds invest with his company?

“They” came to him to save the failing 2002 winter olympics. Did he fail? Or was it very successful?

And you scoff at his faith and his generosity. You rail about the unfairness of his paying almost 2 million dollars in taxes because it was “only” 14.9% of his AGI but ignore the fact that he also gave 30% of his gross to charity. You say he pays less in taxes than a person making 50K but that is false because a person who grosses 50K ends up paying an effective rate of 7.8% .

His policy as stated on his website is to fix this by reforming the tax code. By raising taxes? No. By getting rid of the looholes. But you call him a liar. He stated he must repeal Obamacare even though he likes parts of it. Why? Because of the massive tax hikes for all Americans hidden in the convoluted 2000+ page document. He says “repeal and replace”. But you call him a liar on this as well.

Now tell me. What has Obama done that he said he would do when elected?

    Closed Gitmo?
    Cut the deficit in half?
    United America?
Changed the way business is done in DC?

    Tell me.

Mitt will mix business with govenment.
Will he run government like a business, corporatism
or will he run business by government, fascism?

When it comes to diplomacy, international relations, and language skills, Obama’s resume was many times larger than Mitt’s, by the time he was 12. Yes, Obama DID receive several “hands up” when securing his education.

Mitt has been receiving massive “hand outs” and building wealth from them, his entire life. His resume is actually pretty bleak.

^Zit, a friend of the family helped him get into a good elementary school in Hawaii, then he did get help getting to Occidental, and Columbia, but still had the qualifications to DESERVE that help, and same for Harvard law. What IS sad, is that so many who do NOT have talent, intellect, or qualifications DO get too many “passes” in parts of today’s systems. Programs shouldn’t actually serve as “legacy” type programs, promoting the UNqualified above their “Peter level”, regardless their “social status” that gets them there.

Good post, Bruce. Props for addressing the issues, and in a civil way.
I take exception to his success only in the areas where his success has resulted in others’ loss of jobs and/or retirement, shoving people into the 47% that he disdains.
Evasion of taxes by manipulating tax codes is a major part of his success and I take exception to that as well.
I haven’t paid attention to the Olympics since the late 80’s, so I don’t know much about them in Utah. I would note, however, that all financial records were destroyed, deliberately.
He doesn’t discuss his faith, and it’s not an issue to me, unless he would make decisions based on what the church thinks he should do — exactly what the Vatican wanted Kennedy to do, and which he refused to do. As far as I know, Romney has not been asked this. I’d be interested to hear his answer. I would think you would be, too.
I don’t know what all charities he gives to, the church is predominant and I think most of the money still is mostly within his control. I haven’t researched this and could be wrong, but it is highly unusual for rich people to give much without retaining control or having the building named for them.
Tax rates are pretty tricky. A single person making 50k pays 7.8% (I think) off the top and his employer pays another 7.8%. A $3800 exemption and $5950 brings his taxable income down to 40, 250.
Tax on that income would be 1740 on the first 17,400 plus 3,413 on the remaining 22,750 a total income tax of 5,153 on 50k, about a 10% rate.
So, the income tax is 10%
    Fica/Medicare is another 7.8%
    Employer payment is another 7.8%
So, depending on how you want to count things, the 50k guy pays 10%, 17.8% or 25.6%. In any case, the government gets the 25.6%
I won’t stake my life on these numbers because I may have mixed 2011 and 2012 rates, but the principle is the same and contain no deliberate distortions. I did show my work.
I would cheer Romney (or anyone) on for reforming income tax, but he says he’ll get rid of loopholes. Which ones? What are the basic guidelines for closing loopholes?
Does he have any allies within his party on this issue? Will his loophole closures include elimination of ‘S’ corporations which define Bain Capital as a ‘small ’ business?
I called him on the repeal and replace because he says he’d keep parts of Obamacare and then his campaign clarified that he didn’t mean it. It all goes.

He also says nothing about the replacement. Is Mitch McConnell going to allow replacement? Not bloody likely.
Just another note about Romney’s obsession with secrecy. Won’t release even one complete tax return. Secret overseas bank accounts. Destruction of Olympic financial records. Destruction of state government hard drives. We all remember the last president that was so secretive. Did not end well.
Obama’s biggest failure was not to realize that Republicans had no intention of working with him and would and did damage the economy deliberately.
He should have bludgeoned them with blame every step of the way.
Still, Obamacare became law. It will benefit tons of Americans.

The stimulus became law and changed the momentum of 750,000 jobs lost a month into positive job growth, despite Republican obstruction.
Taxes on the middle class were reduced, although not permanently.
Obama stated that we would get out of Iraq. We’re out.
Obama said his administration would make getting bin Laden a priority. He’s gone.
I tried to make this post more conversational than adversarial. I think I probably succeeded only partially.

I almost answered you, but then I realized you do not deserve an answer, yet. Anyone who asks two parts of a question that equal the same thing needs to ponder the meaning of more jobs and fewer unemployment before he would believe anything I told him.
