Aren’t lightning bugs out-of-season by now? I think one only sees them for a few weeks over the end of spring/beginning of summer.

Never in season on the West Coast. I rather miss them, but not enough to move back to Illinois!

Don’t know where you live, but here in Wisconsin, they come out toward the end of July through August.

My neighbor would catch them, pull off the “lightning” end and use them as earings.

I saw lighting bugs all summer but, by Labor Day it has gotten too cold for them. ( Detroit)

When they spray for mosquitos, it kills the lightening bugs, too.
    Unfortunately.
