Gary Markstein cut his cartooning teeth while doodling in the margins of his grade-school homework. Now he makes a living by skewering pompous public figures and politicians of every political stripe. Markstein is an artist at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and was previously the cartoonist for the Tribune Newspapers in Arizona.

You gotta love the English Language!
.
In what other language could opposites like Manslaughter and Man’s laughter be so close?
.
How about complete opposites that are spelled the same, “I resign!” it’s like Aloha, or Shalom, if I leave after I said it, it means I resign!
.
You gotta love it!

Every language has it’s pitfalls. I can’t come up with a German idiom, phrase or word that requires context right now, but I’ve ran into conversations – mostly drunk – where I had to quickly rephrase the last sentence in order to not have to carry my teeth back home in my hat…

Ich Bein ein Berliner What? You’re a Jelly doughnut?
.
I know it was Nabokov I think the words were Corova, Corona, Corola were equal to crow, crown and clown? The same three letters being the difference between the words in English and Russian. (I think it was in Pale Fire).
.
English is German with spaces between the words.
.
Dr Canuck,
.
For that I curse you with this I’m confident you’ll get the connection.

Not you, the “Therapists” The Rapists" joke comes from a skit on SNL where Sean Connery is a contestant on Jeopardy. A “greatest hits” Compilation
