Gary Markstein cut his cartooning teeth while doodling in the margins of his grade-school homework. Hear that Republicans? Time to put co-operation ahead of party.

The tea party was soundly rejected from the Senate (with the predictable exception of Texas) and voters didn’t forget what happened last time we let the privileged child of a rich family take the reins. Voters have rejected trickle down economics AGAIN. It’s only going to get worse as more conservative old white men die off and are replaced with younger, increasingly minority voters.
.
Now that Mitch McConnell’s number one priority failed, he will have to look at that scary face in the mirror and rethink his blanket rejection of political reality. That “majority” you see surrounding you isn’t what you think it is. Get out and look around a little more and see what the real country looks like.

They voted against a pathological liar who has cheated the country and many of its citizen to enrich himself.

Bipartisanship doesn’t mean voting the way one party wants, despite what one conservative representative said with a grin. It means give while taking. It means experimenting with ideas not previously considered. It means setting aside impossible issues in order to move ahead on issues on which we can agree. I am sorry my friend, Howgozit, is so angry, but I understand. I felt the same way in 2000 and worse in 2004. The hard part was swallowing that anger and writing the respectful letters telling people I had not supported what I thought about the problems facing us.
If Romney had won, there would be conservative gloating and liberal outrage. It is a measure of our character when we can set aside the pain in order to work to find a way forward.
No assumptions should be made. I really believe that if Republicans make a good faith effort to work with Mr. Obama, he will work with them. If Obama can tell Pelosi and Reid to be respectful and sincere, we can find common ground.
Try to set your hate and anger aside and let’s talk about the things we want to see happen for our nation. How do we make this a country all of us can live in?
Respectfully,
C.

Exit polls asking that question? Aha… Do they also ask what kind of chewing-gum the voter prefers? If you have to make up stuff please be at least plausible…

Exit polls also showed that 66% of the voting population wanted and expected taxes to go up. A smaller percentage expected them to go up for everybody, a large percentage saw it as on the 1% and a third thought that no tax increases were the right thing to do.
.
If Mitt got 49% and only 33% were looking for no new taxes. That means that Republican Congressmen voting to put Grover Norquist ahead of party and nation are doing so at their peril.
.
Politicians will take the path of least resistence. Grover is OVER!

The message is that Boehner and McConnell should get off their high horses, and realize people didn’t want the “dressage master” for very good reason, no more power to them! It is time for “the loyal opposition” to become just that, and for THEM to reach across that aisle and work for the people, not just the party.
