“We had to destroy the program in order to save it.” The alternative, of course, is that people might have to pay higher taxes; which means that it’s out of the question for the GOP even though Medicare saves America billions of dollars compared to private-sector insurance.

I’m not senile, but I see what’s going on. I’ll be sending this one to my conservative Mom just to show her what she voted for. (She has already done so via Absentee Ballot.)
    .
Should make for some interesting arguments…. (We sometimes discuss things heatedly for fun, but Politics is one subject that’s a guaranteed argument.)

Well, let’s see: WHO wants to shut down the EPA, and WHO wants to have the food producers have the ability to police themselves, even more than they do already? You pick an amazingly weak set of examples to “support” your case.

I think it’s amusing that Ryan was selected as VP candidate for his supposed expertise on budgetary issues — he had actually produced a proposed budget.
    -
After he was selected, both Willard and Ryan asserted that Ryan’s budget would NOT be used because Willard was at the top of the ticket and HIS budget would be the one used.
    -
Of course, Willard did not and does not have a proposed budget.
    -
If Willard/Ryan’s Medicare plans are so great, why are over 55s exempted?
    -

Would ANYBODY over 55 vote for Ryan’s Medicare proposal?

Yes, I will vote for Romney/Ryan! Our current “leader” plans to stop funding Medicare Advantage plans. That is what we have, & we like it. So much for “if you like your plan, you can keep it”. We’ll be lucky if we can still afford it! I expect the price to go up, the co-pays to go up, the drug costs to go up, and the benefits to go down. Thank you, Pres. Obama! I do believe his goal is to destroy the insurance companies so that all we will have is the “single-payer” Obama-care, which is what he wanted all along. Give him another 4 years & see how you like it when you have to wait 6 months for a doctor’s appointment and a year for surgery. That is what happens in Canada & England. I know people who live there, and that IS how it is. I know people who died in England because the government insurance said they were too old to treat. A man I know in Canada had to wait a year & a half for heart surgery. He was so bad off all he could do was sit in his recliner. But he still had to wait. People who can afford it come to the US for treatment. Now they won’t be able to do that! So by all means, vote for your “saviour”, then lean over & kiss your a— goodbye!

The plan says those not yet 55 will have a CHOICE. And reason would suggest that if enough people CHOOSE Medicare, it’ll probably stay around.
The lib’s in the media don’t want to talk about the truth, cuz if they did it would lend, well, credence to it for their followers, and they wouldn’t keep Democrats in power.
Followers, I like that, good word for them.

^If that ‘choice’ is so great, why not ‘offer’ it to the over 55s?

You’re not a Fox ‘News’ viewer, by any chance?

Would that be the “American Counseling Association”, the “American Camping Association”, the “American Correction Association”, the “American Chiropractic Association”, or the “American Canine Association”?
