Well, at least Wikipedia is getting a workout from looking-up all these new Insects I’ve never heard of before.

    Enjoy all!

Better idea? Plant milkweed to give Monarch butterflies a place to breed…..They love that stuff for some reason….

Their caterpillars eat the milkweed and incorporate some of the plant’s chemicals into their bodies. That’s what makes Monarchs taste bad to birds.

They have built successful cable reality shows on that premise.

Interesting unintentional comment on monarchs and war.
Maybe it is safer to live on a firing range than a place where humans might roam.

Seems that according to the Wiki article posted by @Alexikakos, the population at Fort Bragg is Saint Francis’ satyr, not Mitchell’s satyr. More curiously, it seems to be the only population known anywhere and lives in a single 10×10 km area (a metapopulation).
    Very cool stuff.

On another note, I am always amused that Frazz always knows exactly what these things are :-)

You don’t even see butterflies around here anymore. There used to be a lot of them.

No, no, NO! Don’t be amused! Don’t think! Do not have an opinion! And don’t comment about what a character “knows”. For one thing, you’ll be told that Frazz isn’t a real person, so he can’t “know” anything. For another, pointing out that it’s unusual that a guy would know that much will be seen as your problem, an odd, personal failing.

If you need clarification on these, or any matters, ask Ewal Doh. He’ll be only too happy to condescend to you.

Imagine how hard it was before when you had to go to books.

Most of us are amused by Frazz and his students … otherwise we wouldn’t read the strip and bother to make these comments. Sometimes there are strips that need some explanation, and the readers provide that for people who can’t or don’t do their own investigation. That’s okay too, to a point.
It does get old when some continue to harp about what they believe is the assertion of an alter ego becoming condescending … or a student expressing anti-social behavior.
When that happens, it’s also okay to ignore those posts.

I know there are a lot of people posting here; but try not to confuse me with those who have shown contempt for Frazz/Mallett/Caufield or any of the others.
I don’t follow all of the other strips you mention; but Frazz is a characterization of someone to whom I have a lot of respect. As for Caulfield, he would be a delight to know as a kid and should be a delight for his teachers. That he isn’t, is part of the story line. Kids with little intellect and/or drive are a challenge.
