    yes I’d agree….mainly because in frame 3 Mr.Spaetzle has a guilty look.

    @Al S
    Yesterday you asked about goComics formatting rules.

    Here are two links that cover most options:

    Have fun but don’t go overboard. If you post an image scale it down to no more than about 200×200 pixels

    Don’t look at me. I quit drinking coffee back in ’98.

    The width of the column is 350 pixels. Images up to that width are OK, if they are not too tall.

    Morning, Doc… That and also sliding the dog over a slick hardwood floor to pick up the dust and lint. Never could find that damn cat when I needed him!

    Jef, are you aware of the supreme irony in Caulfield’s comment in the third panel?

    “Whoever” is correct. Whoever is the subject, dripped is the predicate. So, nominative case, not objective. If Mallett had set the do you suppose off with commas, it would be easier to see that.

    Dripping coffee is not too bad. Now if this was my drunken middle school principal it would be a matter of splattering spirits, which would be behavior more appropriate for a dive bar.

    Our faculty room had coffee-colored indoor/outdoor carpeting/ I once dropped a whole urn full at the end of the day, and by next morning you couldn’t tell.

    @bigpuma It never ceases to amaze me how those who are so quick to correct the grammar of others usually just succeed in throwing a spotlight on their own ignorance—and arrogance.

    Love ya, Tomielm, but diagram the sentence, please. “Dripped” is a transitive verb, in this case. It takes an object. The object is “coffee”. The one doing the dripping is the “whoever”. In this case, Mr. Spaetlzle.

    Gato, I was giving you a high five, not taking a swipe at you. I was referring to the ignorance and arrogance of mhmercer. I am very much aware of your linguistic skills. I suspect you’re a fellow English teacher who probably did well in your Latin classes too. Sorry about the lack of clarity.

    As for the second message—tsk, such convolution! That is the kind of nonsense up with which I will not put! :-) (thanks, W. C.)
