    Apparently; Mrs .Olsen is a better teacher than I thought.
    [ … reminds me of some of the ones I had – way back when. ]

    She is so reserved she keeps it all in. She is of the school of not making friends with the students in order to teach them properly.

    @Nabuquduriuzhur

    My great-grandfather rolled his own cigarettes and lived to 86. He was smoking and drinking until the day he died.

    If he rolled his own then the tobacco was healthier than the cigarettes in a pack that are treated with chemicals that make the nicotine shoot straight to the brain. Plus he may have had a healthier diet than people have now. He was rolling his own, so he probably cooked from scratch, too.

    Sometimes the best teachers are the ones most disliked when you are young.
    Or, maybe I should say, the ones most misunderstood by the young.

    As the story goes, my third grade teacher, Mrs. Levy, died in the kitchen with a cigarette dangling from her mouth. Everyone has to go eventually, but it was heartbreaking for me, returning to that town fifteen years after leaving, and really looking forward to talking with her.
    I wasn’t able to thank her in person until I visited her classroom in a dream more than ten years later.
