    My relatives in farming/ranching didn’t use scarecrows. Can’t imagine it working very well without some kind of action or noise. The birds never seemed to care about people in the garden unless they got too close. Even with a cat in the yard interested in feathered lunch, they seemed pretty aggressive. Crows/ravens are a lot smarter than our local robins and woodpeckers. Some of the more modern scarecrows have guns that fire blanks when motion is detected. I’d bet the crows get wise to that after a while.

    Crows are among the most advanced in intelligence and social intelligence among birds. Many parrots are too.
