I’ll be completely honest and say I don’t get this strip.

If she said Nooks or Kindle, the artist would have to pay the company for using those words.

No – read Roger’s last line.
    .
The idea is that the cartoonist could sell the rights to insert your name and the names of your competitor’s in the appropriate balloons … and it could change from one time to the next, according to the bidding.
    .
Kind of like the electronic ads that you see on TV during baseball games that look as if they’re signs on the fences but that change during the game – they’re not really there; the network inserts them electronically.

I iwonder if she would mind sharing her pad? It would be a nice way to Kindle a relationship.

As an ‘early adapter’ I usually wind up with something less cool than the latest and greatest. My 2+ year old Sony Reader still works for me, loaded up from Calibre, a nice piece of software which works with all the e-readers.

I’m reading this on my iPad which is vastly superior to my computer for just this purpose because I can enlarge anytime I need to!

Not to slight any other Reader! I love them all. I can carry all the books I’ll ever need in one small tablet. This is the greatest age to be alive!

Looks to me like the son, Jason, had a big say in picking out whatever that thing is.
Hope he still doesn’t have a grudge from Mom torturing him with her iFruit machine a while back.

While I suspect you meant to say “early adOpter” and that virtual keyboard got you again, I love the concept of the “early adApter,” they guy who buys the bleeding-edge device, discovers it doesn’t quite do what he wants it to do and adapts it to work correctly… in the process defining the [insertString: Sponsored_Device] 2.0…
