Yes, Michael, Lawrence’s move is all about you.

Children are resilient…take Lawrence, for example. His Mom has shown him the bright side of things, and he’s excited now rather than being depressed like Michael is. I think it Is harder for those left behind to deal with a special friend moving away… ;)

It make me think of the amythyst mines! Always wanted to go explore them! Oh..and it reminds me of Laurie Bembenek! Remember “Run, Bambi, Run!”

unfortunately, kids are self-centered. This is normal brain development (not the sin I was told it was growing up). So for Michael, it is all about him.

The ones who stay behind lose one friend; the ones who leave lose all their friends. Did that too many times as a kid.

You can move a long way away but you only lose your good friends when they die, it’s a bummer, I just went through it

    Lynn’s Notes:

I chose Thunder Bay as the city where Connie and Lawrence were moving because it was too far away for a friendly visit. Even though it’s in the same province, it’s a long drive to Thunder Bay from Toronto. I knew that, despite promises to do so, these two ladies would not be seeing each other for a very long time.

They would need a snowmobile to get from Thunder Bay to Toronto.

In this strip today Lawrence is shown with a bicycle. That’s not too bad. I was just thinking there were a lot of kids in my neighborhood who actually did not own bicycles. This greatly affected them. When they grew into adults some started bike shops without bothering to consider the demand and soon went bankrupt. Others were more wise and fixed up old bicycles to donate to kids. At the time I never even noticed they didn’t have bikes I was so self absorbed.
