    Ha! When we were married, 30 years ago, hubby had two polyester leisure suits. A brown one and a powder blue one (shudder). They were just awful!! I connived for two years to find a way to get rid of those suits because he loved wearing them to church on Sunday. Finally they accidentally got melted in the dryer when I forgot to set it to low. I do believe he wanted to give them a burial, kind of like the leg lamp got in A Christmas Story. I think he’s STILL a bit suspicious, even after 28 years, about what happened to his beloved leisure suits. But he looked so handsome in a traditional suit, (and still does), that I made sure I let him know that, every time he wore one, so he got over it. LOL

    And just WHAT is wrong with powder blue leisure suits?!?
    (I’ll take your list off the air please…) ;-)

    I would actually pay money for a powder blue leisure suit for my husband…one always needs a good Halloween costume.
    Anyone have one around they want to part with? Let me know :)

    How come it’s always my stuff that has to go? You can’t get the wife to part with anything! Mine has material for sewing clothes from before we were married. Oh, I’m going to start sewing again, 27 years later and still waiting to see that.

    The fact that she did all the work and didn’t make him help is definitely fantasy land – unless things are that different up North :)

    My boyfriend has more clothes than I do and I can’t get him to get rid of anything although he hasn’t fit into half of them for over four years! We’re now at the point where he’s at least accepted to pack them up into those vaccuum bags, and I hope he’ll eventually forget about them :-)

    A sales rep for my firm sent me to do a software install at a location in Palm Springs. He didn’t inform me that it was a gay club, and I wore my powder blue leisure suit. It was the first (and only) time I’ve been whistled at.

    Never take your partner’s (or child’s) belongings for a yard sale without okaying it with them! It’s just plain wrong. This stuff was stored away out of sight, so what does she care? This “new” Elly (“new” as in comparison to the “old” strip) is not someone I would like very much in real life! I am surprised John stuck around long enough for them to have April!

    I have a whole bin full of clothes that I hope to fit into again someday. But yeah it’s true, men never want to part with anything as long as it’s comfortable. I remember the first few years we were married my husband had this one shirt he loved, and I was so sick and tired of him wearing it all the time, I begged him to get rid of it!

    LOL! All of my really good designer business suits fit me again (heck, some are a little too loose) but style?? NO! They have big shoulder pads that I wouldn’t be caught dead in. They MAY be back in style? Like Elly said, not likely in my lifetime (even if I live another 30 – to 105).

    @L Nelson

    In case you haven’t figured it out yet, there is no “new” Elly by your definition. These strips are reprints of 29 year-old strips and was first published in 1984. Lynn hasn’t drawn a new strip since July of 2010.
