I hardly remember the last time I had a home-cooked meal made by my father (which tasted good of course).

I’ve been making mine for some time. I do relish getting to eat home cooked meals from my family. Though both father and mother are now dead. Fond memories of mom’s cooking and grandmother’s especially.

I find it quite surprising that Ellie didn’t pre- warn John that she wouldn’t be home for dinner and that she’d be out late. She didn’t even mention what her plans were for the evening. Is this the ‘new Ellie’ that was a byproduct of her working full time? if so, this result could have been predicted; however, I still feel she could have let John know ahead of time….out of respect for him.

    Lynn’s Notes:
Whenever I left my family on their own for dinner, I made sure there was a really good meal just waiting to be heated up. It was my way of showing how much I cared (and how guilty I felt as well). I kind of knew they’d take off to a fast food joint in my absence, which didn’t hurt too much — it meant I didn’t have to prepare a meal the next day!

Maybe this is a comic strip and there isn’t room for all the dialog that you can put in a comment.

It wasn’t very often but there were several times when our three were going up that I was required to prepare the evening meals. I can’t have done too bad—two have survived to their forties, one of which is a Mother, the third is in her thirtes and is a Mother.

She probably told him several times but like many men, didn’t retain it.

My husband would do the same, never mind all 3 kids are capable of heating soup and making sandwiches, even the 4 year old, and he lived alone 10 years. I always get jealous. Mmmm…. take out!

Exactly! As long as it’s properly covered you can just pop it in the oven the next night.

That was exactly what I was going to say! A little warning is always appreciated. I don’t buy it that she told him several times before. She has made things all about her lately.
