CAN$126.13 back then (whatever “back then” was on this FBorFW strip) is how much now as well as compared to US currency?

Actually, John, you should have just handed over your wallet, period.

$126.13 “back then” (say, about 1984) would have been worth about $90US. Today $126.13 Canadian is be worth about $130US.

iomyaom, it was about 75 cents per dollar, so call it $95 or so. When I was a little kid, the canadian dollar was essentially the same value as ours and so the currencies went back and forth across the border. It wasn’t unusual to run across Canadian money while shopping.

Typical girl response in panel #2 and the last. Two phases of female psyche.

    Lynn’s Notes:
Having a syndicated comic strip into which I could pour my frustration saved my sanity. In fact, this was a common occurrence with my kids — this simple situation was enough to drive a parent crazy. I got a huge amount of satisfaction from drawing screaming kids with their mouths wide open and tears flying from their eyes. Exaggeration is the key to making art come to life; to be able to turn life into art was a godsend… and that’s no exaggeration!

Not so much a ‘typical girl’, as a typical child. I worked in a daycare, and I’ve seen little boys do the exact same thing.
So that blows your ‘typical girl’ theory. ; p

I take it John and Ellie don’t have a joint checking account. Good idea.

As opposed to the art work found on the side of boxcars (called vandelism)…? Some of those people are SO talented

I thought Lizzie was a brat until she was about 4, in a Sunday strip where she was playing with her dolls, and acting towards them exactly the way Elly acted towards her and others (yelling, nagging, etc.).
After that strip, Lizzie became my favorite character on this strip.
I hope GoComics will rerun that strip someday.

Agreed. It’s not so much “making up one’s mind” as it is failure to pay attention.
