Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

You wouldn’t want him there, anyway, Ellie. He’d only be in the way, trust me!

I know this is an old strip.
Are there still Tupperware parties in people’s homes?

Wise choice, John. Go hang out with Phil for the evening and have Ellie call you when the coast is clear. Better still, don’t tell Ellie where you’re going.

I would much rather take care of the kids than be the only guy in a hen——make that a tupperware party.

Trust me! We do that on purpose, so you’ll tell us to leave! Works every time! ;)

Visitors = deep cleaning. It’s one of those natural laws. So, John, you gonna help or not?

Lynn’s Notes:
I rarely encouraged a sales party at my home, but when you’re in a small town, you have to participate or you won’t get invited to the next one! The husbands usually planned a guys’ night out at the same time — somewhere away from the party, but within crawling distance from home!

John, follow the advise of that sage Monty Python:
“RUN AWAY”.
