Kirk: “Which section (of shore leave parties) would you like to be in?”

Mr. Spock: “Not necessary in my case. On my planet, to rest, is to rest: to cease using energy. To me: it is quite illogical to run up and down on green grass, using energy, instead of saving it.”

The idea of a vacation differs between people. I would have chosen DisneyWorld. For this reason, my daughter tells me her mother and her step-father take separate vacations.

It’s my idea of a vacation.

My husband is Elly and I am John. We had 9 days of honeymoon in Hawaii and probably spent about 4 hours at various pools/beaches. I could have done with 4 days (and spent the other 5 doing other stuff)

Each wants do do what they miss otherwise: John, who works hard away from home, wants nothing but relaxation. Elly, stuck at home every day, wants to get out and see things and go places. In the next strip, the problem is solved logically! (I’ve read the 1st 20 “collection” books many times.)

when my mister and I went to Turks and Caicos last year,, anytime after 11 a.m. it was too hot and muggy to do anything but hide in a shaded area with a drink,, it wasn’t till after 3 or 4 before we dared anything like shopping or touring.

Considering Elly’s expression in the last panel, I can see where Elizabeth got her lung power from (see: yesterday’s strip.)

Just go do what you want to do, Elly. You don’t have to spend every minute together, and you’ll be happier if everyone does what they want.

Elly - Shopping: Looking at things you can’t have (afford) anyway. John - Lying on the beach: Looking at things he can’t have either.

I’m with Elly… I can relax very well at home (that is if my kids are elsewhere). If I go somewhere… I want to explore and experience. I wouldn’t be bugging the hubby though, I’d just leave his toosh there and go have fun.

I’m with Elly too. I can’t imagine why anyone would go to all the bother & expense of going away somewhere just to lie around. I can lie around at home much more comfortably, easily, & cheaply. If I’m going to go somewhere, I want to do something I can’t do at home.

I agree with those who said to each his/her own. I’ve never understood why married couples think they have to be joined at the hip. My hubby of 33 years does his thing, I do mine, and we’re still married and a lot less resentful.
