Pulitzer Prize editorial cartoonist Signe Wilkinson spread her wings and created Family Tree, allowing her to write and draw outside the left/right, headline-driven box of daily editorial cartooning. A contemporary family comic strip, it chronicles the humorous challenges that Ames, Maggie, Twig and Teddy encounter when trying to live "green" and with environmental purpose.

Because adults teach their kids that diversity is not a good thing.
Kids are not born hating someone because of the color of their skin or to which sex that person is sexually attracted.

I was dealing with that crap about 15 years ago and having to defend my grading system against the administration and the parents!
.
I stood my ground and assigned a “D” or an “F” if I felt the student deserved it.
.
Needless to say, I was always on the defensive.

How boring if we were all the same. Equal but different – and celebrate the differences.
