Yes they do, and its for the human. Dogs can’t taste, if it smells like food (and often other things) they will eat it. All dog food is edible, but the organic is more expensive, ergo better. lol

Every dog I’ve ever had got plate leavings and leftovers from the fridge along with whatever dog food we could afford. All died of old age.

If they’re hungry enough, they will eat anything.

They recently discovered that, in Italy, someone was passing off hog anuses for calamari. (It does not speak highly of calamari that the scheme actually worked.)

Dogs do have taste buds. According to Yahoo. "Most of their taste buds are located at the tip of the tongue. However, they only have about 17% as many taste buds as we do. (That means that they only have about 1,700 taste buds. Humans have about 10,000 taste buds.) As such, they can tell the difference between salty, sweet, bitter and sour, but their sense of taste really isn’t much better than that.

It’s believed that dogs rely on their sense of smell more than their sense of taste when it comes to food. When they want something tasty, they aren’t necessarily recalling how good the food tastes; they want it because it smells delicious. A dog’s sense of smell is extremely powerful; their olfactory center is forty times bigger than ours! They even have an organ on the roof of their mouth that allows them to “taste” certain scents."
