That’s the strangest motivational speech I’ve ever heard.

And yet, even today- women starve themselves, get all kinds of “work done”, dye their hair, put on the war paint, dress in clothing designed to barely cover the important stuff, ALL in the hopes of “landing a good catch”- my, my, how far we’ve come…………

Yeah, and you have to go through the same torture to get a husband, too.

Remember, this was 1974. These are today’s leaders. Scary.

We don’t have leaders any more. We have followers who jump out in front of the others.

Given that I am sitting on the waitlist for Duke’s MBA program this is not entirely heartening…

What a pompous thing to say. It’s like saying men are rapists, instead of SOME men are rapists. Not ALL women are interested in landing a “good catch” —they know the good catch will turn in a
    humongous disappointment.

I liked Bill Murray’s impassioned “It JUST… DOESN’T…MATTER!” in Meatballs.

I was 41 when this strip was first published. You have to be a woman of my generation to know how much Joanie Caucus was a hero to us.

Women have to run twice as fast and do the work better than a male just to stay behind them.

Not true. I have worked for several companies that most of the top management was/is women.

The quote I’ve most heard is “Women have to work twice as hard and be twice as good as men too succeed. Fortunately, this is not difficult.”

Must have been women owned since for every woman there are 10 men in charge of corporations.
