One thing Watergate did was bring to an end the recording of conversations and meetings in the Oval Office.
Every President since FDR had recording devices for posterity. They wanted the world to know — at some time in the future — the inner workings of their Presidency.
Watergate brought an end to that.

It was the cover up that really caused the problems for Nixon, that and the secret wars going on in Cambodia and Laos off the books that the Pentagon Papers brought to light.

Yeah, the longer the war, the more money being made. Also, voters tend to stick with the prez they have during conflicts. I could be wrong but maybe that’s one reason why Bush 41 wasn’t reelected and one reason why Bush 43 was reelected. Nixon prolonged the war and was reelected.

They must have needed many excellent criminal attorneys on call during the Nixon administration.

And here I thought he was referring to the ethnic slurs that were commonplace in that WH.

Does anyone remember Nixon’s campaign slogan “Don’t change horses in the middle of the stream” and the rejoinder “Don’t change Dicks in the middle of a screw”?

Nixon was incapable of candid remarks, and his only “frank” remarks were directed to men named “Frank”…….

Wasn’t there about an 18 minute blank space in one of those tapes?
Isn’t the song Alice’s Restaurant about 18 minutes long?

Phred the Terrorist makes that clear in a very memorable strip. Hasn’t been reprinted here yet.

Last I was there was ‘75 if I remember right. I can’t imagine that any of the bars I hung out in are still there, I understand it was cleaned up a lot after the US Navy left. Please, go have an Icy cold Painted Label San Miguel for me. I miss the PI and the LBFMs.
