"Garry Trudeau is the premier American social and political satirist of his time." -Newsweek Doonesbury has managed to be articulate, abrasive, political, compassionate, misunderstood, misprinted, and outrageous - but one thing it's never been is complacent. Garry Trudeau's creation has chronicled American history and culture in a parallel universe. And through it all, Doonesbury has always been honest, entertaining, and thought-provoking.

After he gets over his anger at not being in on the deal from the start, Duke’ll find a way to make $$ on it via Overkill’s access to taxpayer funded, off-the-books CIA “black ops” funding. Maybe even Jeff could be rescued from his mom’s clutches!

@pcshearer….
How little you seem to understand the misuses of statistics. …
LOL Not at all, you are the one who seems to have a problem with understanding. All I said was that the economy was improving. Period!….
My Quote was: “The US economy showed a better performance in the third quarter than initially expected. The ministry for economy said that gross domestic product grew by 2.7%, compared to the previous quarter”….
Now if you want to admit that Bush tanked the economy and we still haven’t recovery fully I will agree. Defiantly! I doubt you will agree to that though.. you have little credibility as it seems you don’t even understand the difference between a Right-wing Totalitarian Dictator (Hitler/Fascism) and a Left-wing Totalitarian Dictator (Stain/Communism) simply because both used the word Socialism in their party name. To do this is to say "The Map is the Territory or the Word is the Object. This might be good Voodoo but isn’t a very widely accepted view of reality. DT explained it very nicely if you recall.
…………….
Now concerning unemployment, I agree that the governments figures of what constitutes the number of people unemployed is not correct but that’s not what we are talking about, that’s comparing apples and oranges. Just going by the Dept of Labors statistics compare the number of unemployed through Bush’s term as President, through the Bush economy collapse through to where we stand right now and unemployment is lesser now than it was four years ago. You can try to figure out what the real number is now but then you have to compare it to the real number then. Period.

@pcshearer the difference between Fascism and communism is the degree of cooperation between government and business. In Fascism business actively abets government goals and works in common in defending national interests, whereas in communism business becomes a branch of the state politic devoting to exporting the revolution to other nations. Both rely on strong central authority figures.
I don’t think either applies to either our current or former executive office, no matter how much they’d LIKE to have or have had that kind of power. Neither is a “strong central authority figure”.

Make like a Democrat Duke. Hear no evil, see no evil, whine about the results.

No, I don’t have ulcers. Sounds like you need to go to your friendly local GI doc.

If you’ve ever wondered where your tax money goes, wonder no longer!

I’m sure Trff was busy generating some extra cash, for a future takover, by fencing “hot” hashish during his bar gig!

Looks like it may be a rerun.

When the economy gets better, the GOP will have their talking heads swear that it’s just cyclical, and then return to selling tax cuts. “Ah, good old leeches Is there nothing they can’t cure?”

“if you want to admit that Bush tanked the economy and we still haven’t recovery fully I will agree”
Both parties exaggerate the influence the president actually has over the economy. As it suits them. Politically.
The “influence” the president (and congress) has over the economy consists mostly of trying to encourage or discourage various economic behaviors. Like shouting at a mule – “Move over there!” The Federal Reserve central bank, for instance, answers to neither the president nor the congress at any time.
In the same way Obama wasn’t responsible for “$4 gallon gas”, Bush wasn’t responsible for the “Great Recession”.
