"Garry Trudeau is the premier American social and political satirist of his time." -Newsweek Doonesbury has managed to be articulate, abrasive, political, compassionate, misunderstood, misprinted, and outrageous - but one thing it's never been is complacent. Garry Trudeau's creation has chronicled American history and culture in a parallel universe. And through it all, Doonesbury has always been honest, entertaining, and thought-provoking.

The fact Bush lied to get us into a useless, costly war is hardly ‘revisionist’ history, it is merely history.

Have to go with BD on this one…

BD hasn’t changed as much as I thought. He’s good to Ray, who’s actually smarter than BD. And he’s a good man — good to his fam, good to his war buds — but still not advanced much beyond his old Neanderthal attitudes regarding W.Bush’s insane wars. He can’t seem to put 3 + 4 to get 7. He’s still getting -1. Sad.

This is a rerun. I’ve seen where it’s going. Don’t judge too quickly.

I see that the number of messages greatly increases whenever politics rears its ugly head.

Have a little empathy man. I imagine that if you lost your leg and went through the suffering BD has experienced it’d be hard to just say it was all a big waste and a debacle. It’s a tough thing to go trough regardless, wouldn’t you say? (and I agree that Bush was insane and the worst President in our country’s history).

My son tried to go back to college between his second and third tours in Afghanistan. He ran into the same trouble BD is afraid of. Professors don’t want Soldiers in class, men and women with experiance, they want young students who sit in their seats, shut up and recite back exactly what the professor tells them. On top of difficulties with financial aid and public unwillngness to hire a Vet and a National Guardsman he wasn’t able to finish. Now he’s back in Afghanistan, with a $5k financial aid debt hanging on him.

DT, BD Is a product of Trudeau’s imagination just as Pretreus the horse us the product of the Red Rascal’s Imagination, all things in the Doonesbury universe emanate from him. Today Trudeau’s using BD as a strawman to complain about libral academic bias, nothing to be sad about, how many times have you said, “Let Trudeau be Trudeau”?

As an actual history professor I LOVE having military vets in my class. They’re disciplined, do the work, and more mature than the average student. One of my best students this semester is a Marine back from Afghanistan.

Let’s see what your attitudes would be after serving in three wars. Hopefully you never have to serve in one.

I’m sorry, this is a dumb question, but does he say, “I figure gut, no?” Can someone translate that for me?

The military mission in the Iraq war was done to perfection and ended very quickly. The political/civilian aftermath was a total disaster, begining with the appointment of Bremer and ending with the ultimate failure of Bush to even secure a SOFA agreement. The belief that there was a surge with a military mission is incorrect, they were military being used for police purposes, which is always wrong, military are not trained for police work and should not be expected to be competent at it.
