GT hated the self-esteem movement and will never pass up a chance to take a shot at it.

One of those odd issues where Bill Bennett and George Carlin were on the same page. The latter’s exposition on the topic is worth watching.

As a (university) teacher of young adults, I can attest that 9/11 wiped out all memory of “the self-esteem movement,” of which the ultimate, political reflection was the rise and fall of Bill Clinton. Jeff’s pornographic narcissism is just self-esteem on life support.

When did Clinton fall? I remember Gingrich falling. I remember Livingston falling. I remember Clinton completing his second term and leaving with higher approval ratings than Reagan had when he left the White House.

Anything by the late, great George Carlin is worth watching.

Many Clinton-haters still live under the misconception that the whole country hated Bill and cared as much as they did about his extracirricular activities. (I always felt their marriage was one more of convenience than love anyway. Hillary’s much too ambitious to let herself get too attached to a man) I couldn’t have cared less, and I thought the GOP’s media attacks were a sham. Bill ended up finishing out his second term with higher ratings than Reagan, and leaving this country with a surplus instead of deep in debt. (Strange al Qaida waited until Bush was in offce before their 9/11 attack. A vendetta against the old man? They failed in ‘91) Gingrich ended up falling into obscurity for years, as is being proven now while he again makes a fool of himself by not admitting he doesn’t stand a chance of getting the GOP presidential nomination. His attacks on Clinton and the disgrace he brought the GOP have not been forgotten.

One day there were just no more posts from him. As far as we’re concerned he just dropped off the face of the earth. As much as I hate to say it, he must have some sort of problem.

Not only did Clinton have higher approval ratings than Reagan when he left office, polls also showed that if he’d been able to run for a third term, he’d have handily defeated either Bore or Gush—I mean, Bush or Gore. A big part of the reason Gore lost the Y2K election is that he took the advice of the “Democratic Leadership Council” (also known as the RNC sleeper cell) and spent his campaign trying to distance himself from Clinton’s record.
