"Garry Trudeau is the premier American social and political satirist of his time." -Newsweek Doonesbury has managed to be articulate, abrasive, political, compassionate, misunderstood, misprinted, and outrageous - but one thing it's never been is complacent. Garry Trudeau's creation has chronicled American history and culture in a parallel universe. And through it all, Doonesbury has always been honest, entertaining, and thought-provoking.

Great way to build up impossible expectations so nothing it does will ever live up to the messianic image. Hmmm, where have I seen that before?

Hollering “Jobs!” isn’t asking for work. They’re praising the CEO.

…and January 22 was the 26th anniversary of the still famous “1984” commercial that introduced the Macintosh computer (3rd quarter, Superbowl XVIII).

@ Joe - the official name is actually “iSlate”.
@ Florchi - I have a copy of that commercial. I like to play it for all my lemming-like Windoze users/losers friends!

It doesn’t have a name yet. Just a couple of educated guesses based on trademarks filed by Apple dummy corporations. But yeah, it will probably be “iSlate” or “iPad.” If indeed that’s what’s being announced.

You people correcting Roland “Clueless” Hedley are just adorable.

Sound like they are talking about Obama. How’s that hope and change working for ya now!

Jesus saves! But when it comes to saving Jobs, I’ll bet on the Jesus Tablet over the Stimulus Package any day.

well, Hedley’s right about one thing. Any group of people willing to arrive early for the unveiling of a new piece of planned obsolescence, really do need a change in their lives.
Meh.

Should probably thank bill Gates for Apple.
Didn’t he and Steve Jobs work together at one time or is that a myth?

How ‘bout christening it the iMe?
Florchi said, over 3 years ago
@rac0308 - back in 1999, TBS showed a pretty good docudrama that told the Gates/Jobs story - “Pirates of Silicon Valley” (c) 1999. A DVD is now available. The PBS documentary “Triumph of the Nerds” tells pretty much the same story, without the dramatization.

One little glitch with this story line is that the meeting is an invitation-only event for the press. Ergo there is no point in waiting in line to be in the audience. Better to catch the blogs if you can’t wait and/or watch the video on the Apple website a few hours later.
