Of course if he had NOT come up with the “red line” she would be saying he was soft on crime.

An analysis by Stratfor says that Obama figured the Syrian government would NEVER use poison gas, so he thought he’d sound tough without committing himself.

Within days, the anti-Assad forces (mostly mercenaries, not Syrians) posted a YouTube of a Syrian jet shooting a missile, and three bodies killed by poison gas. Russia says it has proof the anti-Assad forces killed those three. The now defunct Guardian.uk said experts checked, and said the missile was NOT carrying chemical weapons. (The new and improved Guardian.com says there is irrefutable proof that al-Assad killed those three, as well as dozens of other chemical weapons attacks, finally killing more than 500 civilians.)

But the UK, France, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia demanded that Obama back up his ‘red line’ with action.

And Stratfor says Obama is now in a corner with no good way out.

He painted himself into a corner and now is lying to try to get out of it. Typical childish behavior. Should we expect any less?

It may come down to our military commanders having enough sense to not obey his illegal orders.

it is a lose-lose-lose situation. Wasn’t this the opening scene of Star Trek 2 back in the 70’s?

Consistency isn’t his goal. He’s perfectly fine with whatever “his guy” does; it’s the “other guy” who needs his feet held to the fire 24/7.

If congress votes no and 0bama decides to attack anyway, then yes, I think he is no longer acting as the CinC and military leaders have to respect their oath to uphold the constitution. There is clear precedent in military law that allows soldiers to disobey illegal orders. There is no precedent for a CinC going to war after congress specifically denies that authority.
