Before I was in school, my grandfather had a dalmatian that I was terrified of. He was one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever known, but that didn’t mean much to me when I was only two-and-a-half feet tall.

Over on Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal today they have a little analysis of how, when most animals show their teeth, they’re preparing to eat you, but when humans do it, it’s supposed to be a sign of friendliness. Zach then goes on to wonder what a miniature lemur must be thinking when it’s shown to a bunch of delighted kids.

Yeah, when I was a child, I was deathly afraid of dogs putting their paws on my shoulders. I’m sure they meant well, but…

Beni is bad enough; Dill, your help isn’t. Poor Alice looks so down by panel 3….

Dogs didn’t scare me much as a kid but there was a St Bernard that really intimidated me because it was so darn big, never even dared get close to it

My wife and I have had two of them now and they are the most gentle dogs I’ve ever known

Our granddaughter climbs all over Lola and they both just love it

My grandparents had a BIG orange cat, which I – at three years old – was totally convinced was a lion.

Be grateful you don’t have a wicked stepmom to go along with that scenario, Alice.

Now Beni is putting an interesting twist on the old stories. Love it! Though Alice is scared by it. Poor thing. Dill needs to stop ganging up on Alice.
